APOPO Visitor Center is located just outside of Siem Reap, on the road to the Angkor Archeological Park. It is a must-visit for anyone interested in learning about the amazing work of the Hero Rats and their handlers to clear landmines and other explosives in Cambodia.
The tour of the center takes about an hour and includes a presentation on the history of landmines in Cambodia, as well as a demonstration of how the Hero Rats are trained to detect explosives. Visitors also have the opportunity to meet and interact with the rats and to learn about the many ways that APOPO is working to make Cambodia a safer place.
In addition to being educational, the tour is also a lot of fun. The Hero Rats are incredibly intelligent and playful, and they always put on a great show.
